Prayer to Themis

Themis is the Greek Goddess of Justice. I pray to her every day that this land will demonstrate justice for all and that no one is above the law. As we watch the Chauvin murder trail, let us all pray to Themis that justice be done for George Floyd. We also honor Cesar Chavez this day and honor his fight for justice for farmworkers. A good day to pray to the Goddess of Justice, with thanks and requests for continuing justice for the marginalized in this country.

Here is a prayer to her that I use and then I add what I am seeking at the end.

All praise to wise Themis, great Mistress of Order,

great friend of the seer and sibyl

whose words were once heard in Delphi and Dodona,

great lady of the law who holds the balance,

whose blessings fall on the just and the true.

Daughter of deep earth and stellary sky,

Mother of the ancient Fates who grant to each their share,

Mother too of the Seasons who give the stars their course,

merciful Themis, kind of heart and even of hand,

fair and benevolent Goddess, I call to you.

I honor you, good and gracious Themis,

I offer you my praise and seek your blessing.

Themis, let this land demonstrate Justice for all and let no one, no one, be above the law. Bring down the fate of all the insurrectionists, any who supported them, and bring justice to the family of George Floyd in this moment of time.
